    So, will we see next how to break into the boot from behind the seats in a coupe ? If so how do I/can I release the boot lock from inside the boot? I ask because my battery is fine but the remote boot release has stopped working with the key fob & the key in the back does not work ! The older model Jags had a rod behind the number plate which could be used with a pair of pliers to release the boot. Any info welcome, Thanks

    A nice introduction to the items that this accesses; for example, the different types of speakers and the two types of speaker housings included in later cars (early and base only hang, not enclose the rear speakers); the part of the top tubing going through this area; the rear window regulators (rebuildable with metal gears by a firm here in Phoenix, done very well for my pax side); the top actuators; and undoubtably many more subsystems . While you are in this area, could you shine a bit of light on some of these areas? I very much appreciate viewing your videos while (whilst?) working on a complete forward suspension replacement (upper & lower control arms, anti sway & links, wheel bearings and brakes in our summer 46 degree temps. 1997 convertible with 70,000 mi.

    I'm catching up with some older TtG videos. This one's ace. I saw it a couple of years ago and went and ordered a St 1&2 Ademesh system pronto. I got my local garage to fit ( reasonable price, but the guy said the St2 bit was pretty tricky). So my experience is; firstly the sound is brilliant, at idle and acceleration inside and out and it's changed the whole driving experience for the better! What a lovely sound! I have an '03 XKR soft top. Here is some additional feedback; At start up from cold, the initial bark from the exhaust is pretty loud. This soon quietens as the engine idle slows. Some more sensitive neighbours might object to your early morning start ups! As John indicated drones are possible, but not in his XK - with the St1&2 fitted to mine however, I get a drone at about 1500rpm under mild acceleration. This tends to coincide with auto box favourite gear change up ie. tends to drone up the gears under normal driving up to 60mph. Not sure if this can be fixed.. Easy remedy is to use the J gate and keep the gear changes longer. Or just put your foot down! Some would find this boom excessive and would maybe prefer the St 1 only if this boom occurred. Might just be my car and keeping the St2! More of an issue to be aware of is when I took the car in to a specialist last year for routine auto-box service (flush and filters etc), they added a fair bit to the bill due to the extra time it took them to do the job (changing the filters needed the pipes to come off and took more time apparently)..

    • @ToTheGarage
      @ToTheGarage День назад

      Great extra intel for anyone else considering the St1 and St 2 exhaust Richard. sometimes the boom is down to a loose or dropping rear bumper. Go give yours a good wiggle just in case👍

    I set my camera a bit higher so I can see any oncoming traffic. The fun part now is running the wire under the center console, under the back seat, up around to the side where there’s a pass-through just below where the canvas meets the body. Easier to see from the rear seat area with a bright light shinning into the top back of the trunk. Poke a 3 for long rod through, then tape & snake your wires. You’ll have an extra 10 or 12 feet of wire that can be coiled under the rear seat.

      @@ToTheGarage It took me many hours to complete the camera installation. A lot of interior to remove and just fiddly. Then the short section between the boot lid and the body, I drilled a hole in the rubber grommets. I then taped the wires (weeks later) to the piece that the existing loom runs through. (Prior to taping I just zip tied, but that let the wires bend dramatically producing noticeable wear rather quickly. Fortunately I spotted it before the insulation wore through.) I also added flex tubing around the new and existing wires. I’ve been meaning to return to that part of the installation and see if I can run the wires through the casing the loom runs through. Ideally it would look OEM. Good luck. I look forward to your completion video. It’s always fun to see how others overcome obstacles that I have gone through. I always learn a better way in some aspect of the project. And I’m eager to see how you run that section I just described above.
